Jesse Carmichael - 1863
Friday - March 29th at 5:30 pm

Picture
Jesse started playing piano at age 7 and guitar at age 12.  He  met future band mates Adam Levine, Mickey Madden, and Ryan Dusick at Brentwood High School in Los Angeles  and formed a band, focusing all of their energy on creating music throughout  their high school lives.  In 1995 they received a recording  contract. After a set back that gave them time to write new songs and grow up a bit, they began to let more of the R&B and hip hop shine through.  When he switched  full time to keyboards from guitar they invited their friend, James Valentine, to take over on 6-string duties and changed their name to Maroon 5.  With a new recording contract and full length album released in 2002, Maroon 5 set out to conquer the world one show at a time.  Over the course of 4 long years they have slowly rose to a place where millions of people connect with their music.  Two more Platinum albums followed and after a decade of touring Jesse decided that he needed a change of pace and asked the rest of the band if he could sit out the  fourth studio album and subsequent touring cycle in order to experience life  from a different perspective and study music more full time.  He also devoted  some of his time to training courses in Yoga and Massage.  Along the way he decided to create an outlet for his solo music and chose the moniker  1863 because of his love of the idea of freedom for all human beings.  Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1st of the year 1863 and Jesse feels strongly that the pursuit of freedom for all individuals in our societies is still underway on many levels.  Jesse will be returning to Maroon 5 to make their fifth studio album in this summer while continuing to release 1863 music on the side with a multitude of friends and collaborators,  in addition to moving further into the world of film and commercial scoring.  Jesse's website www.1863.com is operational with 4 free songs that can be downloaded.
